Mom walks for kids -- and hope

Lorraine McCallum’s cancer damaged her back, preventing her from ever lifting and holding her baby.

But this weekend, with her 11-month-old daughter in the arms of her father, she will take part in a 5-km walk to raise money for a cure.

McCallum was diagnosed with multiple myeloma — a cancer of the white blood cells — last November, days after giving birth to Katarina. Myeloma is incurable but after months of chemotherapy and radiation, the 42-year-old mom of three is in remission.
